Your Grace Land - Questions and Answers

Your Grace Land is a personal invitation to Divine Grace; a universally accessible spiritual experience where faith meets grace, grounded in Christianity, yet open to people of all traditions and beliefs. Your Grace Land is also home of the Reverend Elvis Bruce R. Sheasby, ordained minister and singer, who is himself inspired by the musical style of Elvis, particularly his love of gospel music.

Your Grace Land Ministries is an Online Ministry of the Spiritual Community Church of the West and Rev. Elvis Bruce R. Sheasby, helping people to connect with Divine Grace, through message, prayer, meditation and music, including weekly half-hour services, radio podcasts, 5-minute Spiritual Prosperity Meditations, life coaching articles, and more.

Reverend Bruce Reinhold Elvis Sheasby is an ordained minister with over 25 years experience as a pastor and spiritual leader, who also has a long history of being inspired and influenced by the musical style of Elvis Presley, which has in turn become part of his ministry to share God’s Grace with others.

Reverend Bruce holds a B.A. (high distinction) in Philosophy and Economics (University of Toronto 1982) and a Master of Divinity (Vancouver School of Theology 1994). He was ordained and served in The United Church of Canada before he left in 2006 and formed the Spiritual Community Church of the West, a non-denominational church – being more about Spirituality and Grace and not part of any religious or denominational institution.

Bruce sang “Jailhouse Rock” at age 16 on the Gong Show. He has sung “Peace in the Valley” at the Crystal Cathedral in California. In 1998 he hosted and won the International Elvis Gospel Festival as a church fundraiser in the small town of Vauxhall, Alberta. At that time, he was given the name Reverend Elvis and later added Elvis to his legal name.

He has recorded and performed with Elvis’ Imperials and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities in his Rev. Elvis & Friends Blue Christmas benefits. His upcoming book is entitled Your Grace Land – Maybe It’s Time.

Here are 3 reasons for the Your in Your Grace Land:

  1. You are unique, special and one of a kind and so is Your Grace Land.  So, Your Grace Land  is about You connecting personally in your own life experiences with Divine Grace. Your Grace Land  is your home!
  2. As Grace originates with God, so the Your in Your Grace Land  also refers to Grace being the Providence of God. Your Grace Land  is also the home of God.
  3. The name Your Grace Land  is also intended to be invitational to whoever hears or sees the name. Of course, as one takes ownership of Grace personally or in community, we might think of “My” Grace Land or “Our” Grace Land, but in sharing the name Your Grace Land with others, the Your is meant to be invitational. Your Grace Land  is an invitation to all people to find their home in God’s Grace!

At the center of Your Grace Land is God’s amazing Grace. One definition of divine Grace is unmerited favour, meaning that it is a gift of God and not something earned or deserved. Rev. Bruce shares: “Grace is the activity of God in our imperfect broken world. Sometimes we experience Grace on mountaintops, sometimes in valleys. Sometimes we are the recipients of Grace and sometimes we can share it with others.”

The Land of Your Grace Land is where you experience Grace. This may include physical places, yet it also includes non-physical places or experiences that touch your heart and bring deep meaning. The Land of Your Grace Land may, for instance, transcend time and involve connecting with loved ones who have passed on.

As Grace is the activity of God, and Grace is at the center of Your Grace Land, so God is definitely a big part of what we are all about.

However, we recognize that many people feel they can’t believe in God or are not sure of what they believe for various reasons. Some are just still searching. Others have trouble with a belief in God because of their experience of tragedy and grief. Many people struggle with questions as to why an all-powerful loving God could allow bad things to happen? Others see hypocritical or hurtful things done by religious people in the name of God and so they want no part of it. Some feel that a belief in God is incompatible with science, etc.

For all these reasons, here at Your Grace Land we are less about telling people what to believe about God, and more about opening of the heart and letting God’s Grace in.

Yes, Your Grace Land is Christian. But we also recognize that the label Christian means different things to different people. So, we are non-denominational, recognizing that people can be in different places in their beliefs about God within our fellowship.

We also recognize that some who call themselves Christian are far from being Christ-like. Some non-Christians are more Christ-like than many Christians. Our emphasis is less about telling people what to believe and more about encouraging faith; helping people grow in their Inspirational Core Values; opening our hearts and letting God’s Grace in.

Yes absolutely! Your Grace Land is open to people who do not consider themselves Christian because Your Grace Land is less about religion and telling people what to believe, and more about helping people grow in their understanding and relationship with God’s Grace.

Yes, the Bible is a big part of Your Grace Land.

As Rev. Bruce says in each message after he reads a Bible passage “May God bless to our understanding this reading from His Holy Living Word.”  In other words, we need God’s Spirit to help us interpret the Bible. There’s a saying “tell me what the Bible means to you and I’ll tell you who you are.”

Rev. Bruce has a Master of Divinity degree which includes training on interpretation of the Bible, and he offers insights from over 25 years experience as a preacher and pastor.

But most important for any person opening to the truth in the Bible is coming with an open heart and letting in the Spirit of Truth to reveal God’s message for our lives.

The 6 Pillars of Your Grace Land are Truth, Love, Strength, Peace, Hope and Joy.

Each of the Pillars has 3 Inspirational Core Values. These are authenticity, purpose, passion, meaning, creation, vision, prosperity, synergy, wellness, generosity, adventure, tenacity, helpfulness, growth, enlightenment, respect, transformation, and bridge-building.
